PORT DICKSON: Municipal officials are to ensure a cleaning up of Port Dickson following its selection as a location for the Asean summit meeting in October.
Municipal council president Hasnor Abd Hamid said: “We will ensure all rubbish in the town and beaches is collected. Cleaning will start early in the morning to ensure that everything is in good condition,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
He said the Asean summit meeting is scheduled to take place on Oct 3 at a hotel near the beach.
“We will collaborate with the hotel and relevant departments to ensure the cleanliness, landscaping, roads, and overall beauty of Port Dickson are well-maintained,” he said.
At the popular beach resort of Telok Kemang, the municipal council has installed beach umbrellas over a 600m-stretch of the beach at Pantai Batu 2 and Pantai Batu 3.
State executive councillor J Arul Kumar said 33 plots for the umbrellas had been prepared involving an allocation of more than RM224,000.
Each plot will have eight umbrellas and tables, and 16 chairs, which will be set up daily from 8am until late evening. “Soon, we can see Port Dickson Beach with a new image that gives the vibes of Indonesia’s Bali.”
